Imagination and creativity of culture will be a nation's
fundamental drive in the 21st century, requiring the shift of paradigm
from 'the industry-based society to so called, the "Knowledge-based
society". The knowledge-based society of the 21st century demands more
of high-quality culture. Thus, the mission of Graduate school of Arts
Management, ChuGye University for the Arts is to produce culture planners
and arts managers. To that effect, students are encouraged to develop
a macroscopic discernment as global citizens, to nurture originality and
creativity through rational approaches and to level up expertise for applicability.
Degree Courses The challenging world of arts today demands innovative,
well-trained leaders who can adapt themselves to change. In response,
the school program employs an interdisciplinary approach, including coursework
at corporations, theaters and museums, in addition to courses specifically
designed for arts management. The two and half-year program includes 4
semesters of classroom training and 1 semester off-campus training as
an intern. Master of Arts Management Course This course is designed to produce arts managers who are
efficient and effective in both theory and practice in the matter of cultural
and artistic activities. Through this unique program, students are groomed
to become specialists on museum, theater, fund-raising or marketing. Master of Planning & Research of the Culture Course This course is designed to prepare leaders who have professional
knowledge and execution ability necessary for cultural policy, city marketing,
regional cultural program, theme industry and convention industry. Through
this program, students are groomed to become professional organizers and
consultants of cultural policy, festivals, creative industry and the other
cultural events. Studying through........ Internship Students work in an approved professional setting. An
individual student develops a project in consultation with a professor
and a field supervisor who have various experience in a functioning artistic
organization. This could be done where a student is currently employed,
as long as it is not simply an extension of regular duties but sets the
student in a variety of challenging situation mandatory in the fifth or
the last semester. Workshop From the first to the fourth semester, workshop proceeds
to develop a student ability on data gathering, planning and actual
project management under the guidance of teaching staff consisting of
field specialists. Advisor Each student is requested to have a senior who has fore-experience
about his/her project. The senior advice and interaction will help make
concrete his/her project. Through this procedure, a network with other
fields and interdisciplinary study are constructed. Integrated seminar / critique A student should make a professional presentation on the projects that have been done over four previous semesters, in front of all professors, tutors, advisors and students, which will be followed by panel discussion. Students will make presentations in this 16-week-run seminar designed to enrich their projects through an exposure to the criticism and feedback from the participants. ¡ØTutor : a professor or lecturer who gives additional, special or remedial instruction to a student. Each student will have a tutor for this prupose.
Panel training A method designed to cultivate the creative thinking and
debate ability. Team-teaching Students acquire creative thinking and debate ability
through years of panel training class where a student delivers his/her
idea while the rest of classes become panelists. |
